Life's good in Cinque Terre // Day 1

The next day after we wander around Rome, we woke up really early in the morning (hello 5AM is early) to catch our bus to Florence. When I first booked the bus, I seriously thought the bus would be like so biasa biasa one because it was very cheap, but OMG. Besarrrr sangat punya! Air conditioned somemore! And hear this, free wifi all the way from Rome to Florence! Paling terkejut dalam dunia okay! Ahhh, amazing things happened when you believe .... in researching for your own transport. hehe

OH AND! The view was, MESMERIZING!

Sadly when we arrived Florence, we would have gone to the Duomo but paranoid me, so scared that we would missed our train because I can't get anyone to speak English to me. Not one bit! For anyone who knows me, I can't relax until I get the information I want.

So we missed the Florence experience, but good news is, WE GOT ON THE TRAIN to Cinque Terre, safely! That's okay Florence, I'll come back for you, insyaAllah :)

So, arrived in La Spezia Station (it's the nearest town) , we took a €20 cab to our hostel. Settled in, oh the landlord even gave us free towels (WIN), we then solat-solat, put on our bathing suit and wore them under our clothes and we're set to go explore Cinque Terre!

And I remembered, the first thing I saw when arriving Riomaggiore Village was this roses, all bundled in one stem! How prettyyyyy!

Seriously, how pretty is this house? I want? T.T

And, poppies popping up everywhere toooo! Ahhhh I'm already 80% hyper at this point. Be cool Amirah Farhana! 

So, this is CINQUE TERRE!

Cinque Terre consists of five beautiful hillside towns (Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monterosso) on the west coast of Italy. They are famous for being historic and, well, beautiful. Not just “This place is beautiful” beautiful but more like “I died and gone to heaven and never want to leave” kind of beautiful. YES, it was THAT beautiful. 

Cinque Terre has amazing walking trails that give you a chance to fully explore the towns, olive groves, vineyards, and surrounding area. There are quite a few trails around, the easiest of which is the coastal path. You can start the walk in either Riomaggiore or Monterosso.

From Riomaggiore, you walk to Manarola along the section called “Lover’s Lane”. This is the easiest part of the walk, with the path paved and flat and giving you great views of the ocean. It will take you right into Manarola. Sadly, we didn;t get to do that, because the path was closed due to a landslide happened a few months before :( [ All the more reason to come back! hehe]

So, we did the next best thing, we took the train! Walking to the train station was the best because you are surrounded by the ocean and let me tell you, it was a longgg walk , but it was all worth it!

Well, a girl gotta do, what a girl gotta do. Take picture every step of the way! haha

So, here we were. Manarola. One of my favourite village out of all 5. 

Do you know what we're gonna do here?

  WE'RE GOING SWIMMINGGGG!

Look at how blue the water wassss? And it was crystal clear!

And then it was time to go back to our hostel, because it's getting darker. But look how pretty was the sunset here. Haiihhhh. Boleh menangis kalau hari-hari macam ni.

 And as usual, this is the video I made for our trip here. This video is a bit longer than the last Rome video, because, I learnt my lesson. haha

Our Roma Adventure // Part 2

So basically, this post is to scram all those Roma photos I had and never get the chance to post them anywhere.

And to continue off from the last post, after hours being mesmerized by the big, round & hard structure that was the Colosseum ( what were you guys thinking? LOL) we continue on walking towards the old cities of Rome.

You should know by now, I am PARTICULARLY OBSESSED with windows. Oh yessss, MORE COMING. haha

The Gelateria I didn't get to try because our tour guide didn't think it's a good idea to stop here. What ever do you mean? It's always a GOOD IDEA if it involves gelato! ALWAYS.

Oh and doors, they're pretty innit innit ?

See? Purrrdyyy windows!

 Again, meeting the star of our history textbooks, Pantheon! Starstruck sangat!

I jumped at every chance I got to stop for Gelato. Hey, I'm on vacation! It's Italy some more. It 's a crime not to have as much as Gelato you can handle :D

And it was, MMMMMMMM MMMMM GOOOOOD!

Our last stop before heading back to our accommodation was The Trevi Fountain, of course! We did the coin tossing and people watching, the whole shenanigan! We were soooo tired, we literally could not speak to each other the whole time we were walking to the fountain, but we understood each other I guess. Just soaking in the beauty of the city :)

And look at how packed this place was with tourists doing all the tourist stuff, us included. So, we knew, it was time to go back to our hotel.

Such a beauty, you had to be there. Trust me, I would sooo jump in the fountain if it wasn't because I didn't bring my swimming attire, and because of there's other people, and mainly because it was illegal. hehe

Our Roma Adventure // Part 1

I knowwww, this post is long overdue, but bear with me, I had a lot going on so I can't find time to update but now that I got the time, I want to share this with you! 2013, was by far the best year yet, because I managed to plan my first ever, Eurotrip, and backpacking somemore! 

It was my final year in UK, and I wanted to travel some more before I head back home and also because my friends from Malaysia is coming to visit, so we plan the whole thing together.

Our initial plan was:

ROME - FLORENCE - CINQUE TERRE - VENICE - PARIS - ISTANBUL - GREECE 

- LONDON

BUT, because we were all still students, and had a budget, we had to cancel 2 destination :'(

ROME - FLORENCE - CINQUE TERRE - VENICE - PARIS - ISTANBUL - GREECE 

- LONDON

We'll come back for you Istanbul & Greece, just you wait :D

But for now, here's bits and pieces of our adventure in Rome.

This was when we had to recheck our luggage, the weight, what you can and cannot bring in the flight because we were on a budget flight (Ryan Air), so they were quite strict on this matter. 

What I did not show here was, myself wearing 5 layers of clothing because, oh well, my luggage was overweight and I'm soooo not paying for the excess baggage, so I WORE those excess baggage. Yeap, half of my clothes, ALL ON MY BODY. hahahaha. 

Upon arriving Rome, we had a bus already waited for us outside (the one that I booked months and months before this trip) to get us to the city center where we stayed. Checked in, left our baggage and we're off to the train station to get to our first destination, COLOSSEUM of course! 

As some of you may know, all 4 of us is a design major students (Interior Design & Architecture), so the moment we saw Colosseum, we couldn't believe what's right in front of our eyes. So much emotions staring at the ruins because all this while we only read about it from our history books and now we're here! I wanted to cry, but that's okay, can tahan lagiiii :D *emotional*

So, the rest of this post, as you guessed, is filled with Colosseum pictures, at every angle. Trust me. haha Memang jakun macam tourist habis. You guys get me, right? hehe

This is Kyrie, my bestfriend who came alllll the way from Kayyy Ellll! We're the mastermind behind this trip!  

And yes, she brought the sketch book all through out this trip :)

 

These were all tourists from the US. Sometimes, we would sneak inside the crowd just to listen to what the tourist guide was saying, explaining about the building. haha cheapo, I know.

You can't tell, but it was dripppping hot, and my clothes, WAS NOT meant for this kind of weather :O LOL

Here's a short little video I put together on our Rome trip. It's merely a 3 minute video but mind you, I was busy soaking in all the greatness of the building, forgot to take lots of video on it. hehe

I WAS LIKE A KID HIGH ON SUGAR, can you tell? hahaha

Seriously, the journey has just begun. We have no idea what is coming for us next!
